Hope in Motion: Abd’s Journey from Pain to Possibility
Abdalrahman Al Nashash is an 11-year-old boy evacuated from Gaza to Jordan. An airstrike hit his school, shattering his left leg. He lost his father and three brothers in another airstrike. Abd suffers from severe and lasting depression. His amputation in Gaza was done in very poor conditions, and as a result the prosthetic he received didn’t fit. Under the care of a Restoring Hope prosthetist in Amman, Abd was fitted with novel socket technology, the process taking under one hour. The socket can be remolded up to five times as Abd grows. Abd was wheeled in on a hospital bed, and left walking, side by side with his mother and 3-year-old sister.
